A Poem Written by Lindsay Tyner, Case Manager
Every day we come, not knowing what’s in store.
We come when our own cups runneth over, when they’re halfway full, and when there’s barely enough to pour.
All of us a little bit different, yet so much the same.
We come because to us, the faces of need have names.
Sometimes her name is loneliness; she aches for a listening ear.
Or maybe he’s known as “drunk,” but he’s finally sick of nights filled with beer.
Who do you call as a single Mom, no family, no money, no hope?
Where do you turn as a man with a past and no work, at the end of your rope?
We are here because we know.
We know what it’s like to hurt, to have a need we don’t know how to fill.
To be ashamed to make that phone call, asking someone else to foot the bill.
We give because people did it for us, poured from their glass to our empty cups;
So whether we are full, halfway there or running on empty, we give out of LOVE.
